I only use filtered water in the unit.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Thanks for your question! We recommend using bottled or filtered water in your Keurig coffee maker. Coffee and tea are over 98% water so quality drinking water is necessary for a good coffee, tea or iced beverage. Our brewers can function properly with tap water. However, if using tap water, we suggest that it be filtered as it may help to improve taste. If you are using well or softened water, we recommend that you plan to descale your brewer every 3 months. We do not recommend using distilled water. We hope this is helpful!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My water is soft so no problems. However, my son-in-law has a Keurig and they have hard water and they have absolutely no problems. You need to know, however, that hard water beats up every water-using appliance in your household as I'm sure you already know. Hard water, although healthy for your heart (I read somewhere) leaves deposit buildup in all of your appliances using water giving those appliances a shorter life.
