“Bought unit for a third floor apartment. Why does unit have a hose for water drain when it is supposed to be a self evaporating unit? Do we need to manually drain when used as an air conditioner? Is unit also a dehumidifier separately?”

The excess moisture from higher humidity days is collected into an internal tank and will occasionally need to be emptied.
