“I got a set less then 2 months old.. I got the kx 800.1 2 ohm stable amp. And a compasitor.. I dont hear distortion nor any odd sounds or smell from subs. But i got my gain at 3/4 and boost over half”

When I bought mine in October I had also purchased the 2400.1 kicker amp. Almost half gain and midway for boost and bass is off on my car. As for the capacitor I have known for years they dont help. If you are having light issues switch to an Optima battery first. Not sure what your question is but ask away.
