• You need an amp to have your subs pumping. You can buy separately but one is almost useless without the other.

• If you want to hook up a subwoofer then yes plus anything else to install your system. Smaller speakers 6x9 and below may not require alot of watts but having a small amp for your high input wouldn't be a bad idea.
