A passive speaker is a way to get extra power and resonance out of a smaller speaker system. The reason they are called “passive” is that they are not powered by electricity, rather, they are powered by the air pressure created by the speaker cones which receive all of the electrical power from the battery or AC source.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.So, the passive radiator is functional it provides a rolling bass effect since the passive radiator is 90 degrees out of phase from the active sub. I would not recommend tinkering with the product design.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Passive radiators are not "dummies," they are very accurately weighted to resonate at a specific frequency. They do a similar task as a port, but without requiring a larger box. There isn't enough box volume to support 2 actual subs. It would sound lousy. They tend to sound quite good, not as boomy as typical ported boxes but better on deep notes than sealed, right in between.
