Our BestBuy sales rep, who seemed to be knowledgeable, stated that there was a production stop/start to address signficant defects. We were told this when we were hesitant to buy because of all the poor reviews. We were assured the unit we would be buying in May, 2019 would be the "updated" model. However, our model makes a loud buzzing sound when running which is way above the acceptable decibel level, and its frequency is disturbing to me, and the fact that I can hear it running 30+ feet away. AVOID THIS UNIT/BRAND. Do you really want to buy something that was so poorly designed or built that they had to stop the production run? Don't make our same mistake.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.we bought one of the early models and had the freezig up issue. That was replaired, but the technician, not a Best Buy tech, messed up the left door hinge. Then repairing that broke a hoseon the oce maker that could not be repaired. A comedy of errors that worked out well for us. Kitchenaid, eventually gave is one of the new units. Have had it for nearly a year, and, so far, it is fantastic! Kitchen aid never admitted to changes, but there is a last digit serial number difference with the old unit. Last digit is 1 on our new unit, it was 0 on the previous unit that gave us trouble. Our new unit doesnot have any of the "linear compressor" whine that the first unit had. We love it!

Model number ends on 04 and one of the service technicians told us this is a 4th generation unit and they haven’t had problems with it. However ours buzzed rather loudly for the first six months, then stopped working altogether. They said it had a refrigerant leak and also replaced the compressor. It’s now working great and no more buzzing just nice and quiet. It’s under warranty so they repaired it at no cost. I would call customer service about that buzzing now that I KNOW that buzzing indicates a problem.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Asking the Newport News comment referring the the sound. Does your unit make the buzzziing noise now that you’ve had it for a year? We just purchace and we have to series # ending in 0 and we have the constant buzzing noise and within our return window. Maybe we got the bum unit to
