The Kitchenaid machine we purchased has a heated dry option an option they call Pro Dry which utilizes a fan to circulate the heated air in the machine during drying. We've found that by using this option it dries far better than our prior machine which had only a heated dry capability. Yes, there will be a bit of moisture in the concave bottoms of inverted glassware, but that's it. It even completely dries the plastic fridge containers which never got dry in our old machine. We do use a rinse aid product as recommended in the user guide. This product causes the water to sheet and drain off the dishes helping to eliminate droplets of water on the dish surfaces. Such droplets will tend to dry more slowly.

Your dishwasher is designed to use rinse aid for good drying performance. Without rinse aid, your dishes and dishwasher interior will have excessive moisture. The Heat Dry option will not perform as well without rinse aid. For most water conditions, the factory setting will give good results. However, if you are experiencing poor drying performance, you may want to try a higher setting. Turn the arrow adjuster inside the dispenser to change rinse aid setting.
