Hello Grace! It is normal for wall ovens and ranges to get hot on the outside. Depending on where the vent is will determine which areas get hotter. While you should be able to touch the outside of the range we would not recommend keeping hands on the unit. Thank you for your inquiry on our KitchenAid appliances.
