Yes and yes! I haven't used it for the ice cubes, but I'm sure it would be fine. I use it for mashed potatoes and creamed soups (tomato, sweet potato/squash, etc.) while hot. I hope that helps!

I use it frequently to blend cream and soup components into simmering broth to make ‘cream of’ soups and sauces. Also, to incorporate milk/cream into eggs for the fluffiest, most tender scrambled and shirred eggs possible.
