There's no cap to remove! Just flip open the flap that says 'Lift' and pour directly on where it says 'Fill'

I finally realized that the rinse aid goes into the slot shaped as a half circle, marked fill. Just pour rinse aid into this slot until you can 's see that it full in the circle that looks like a bubble level. I've had mine a few weeks now, and it works just fine.
