They can be installed on a drop ceiling, but you might add a square of at least 1/2" plywood to spread the weight and not cause the ceiling tile to droop over time. There are several online sources to determine positioning relative to furniture location and ceiling height. You won't match them directly, but those from people like Dolby provide good insight and a target to shoot for.
