You also have to make sure the installers cut the inside of the ring and not to the outside of the ring or the speaker will not latch on.

A:AnswerThey are made to clamp to drywall. Depending on your open ceiling style, you could build square box to hold speakers and would help with sound as well. The speakers would clamp to any 1/2 inch or so board.
A:AnswerPair these with any speaker that has a similar wattage sensitivity and frequency response. If that doesn't match, then it will definitely sound weird
