Very loud with no distortion I am driving mine with a 175 watt per channel Emotiva amp sometimes at insane levels.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.if you want great sounding speakers yes the 8" will do great. the 5.25 are good but not near the quality of these. I will be using the bookshelf speakers (non powered) as rear speakers in my 5.1 system but not as the main L and R.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes they'll work nicely, provided you have a decent amplifier. These speakers are very efficient, meaning they get loud with low wattage. I played a variety of genres from Spotify--jazz, rock, pop, soul, and they all sound good. I found that I got the best sound when I bypassed any audio enhancing features from the receiver, such as converting stereo source to surround. I even preferred the sound coming from a pair of these speakers without a subwoofer than with a subwoofer. Crisp and loud. You can't go wrong.
