yes this speaker is great sounding even without a sub! specially if you match it with a good amps. solid bass and the horn tweeter is perfect!

I suggest getting the 3 way center reference series along with 12" reference sub(high end) but make sure your reciever has enough power. These RP8000 can handle 150 watts. I am using a new yamaha reciever at 110 watts per channel and pushes these speakers well. With above system, move lose knickknacks as the vibrations will move items around your house. Best purchase I have made. Happy listening...
