Yes. The TV does not have power to push these speakers. Just to be clear, you will need a receiver to make this speaker work.

TV alone has limited power for speakers. Receiver amplifies.

Any A/V receiver will work to provide 5.1 channels. I am partial to Onkyo receivers (I have had two-636 and 656), and Best Buy always has great deals on them.

Yes it's part of a 9 speaker set up or what surround set up you have, 5 or 7 speaker surround
