The Scanza uses 3 connections for power and connecting to your computer. The USB cable attaches to the Scanza and wall plug adapter for power to the Scanza unit. When done scanning, detach the USB part from the wall plug adapter and plug USB into computer. The computer gives the Scanza power and the you can transfer/copy your files to your selected directory on your computer. I really enjoy my Scanza. The film adapters are easy to use. Be gentle when sliding old slides, they do stick, but just remove holder pop open and move slide to correct position and put holder back in unit. I did massive research for home scanning and this is the best unit and best price for home archiving.
