This is not a good laptop for multitasking but for individual programs like Voice recognition using DNS or using Word to print a book I don't see why it would be bad. Though if you are looking for the computer to constantly recognize your voice and type in word at the same time you might want to speak slowly because the processing power of this machine isn't great and the memory hogs of WORD/Dragon will eventually make you pull out your hair while dictating an entire book.
