The machine comes with 2 4gb ddr3 so you would have to purchase 2 8 gb pieces to up it to 16 gig ram

It appears that the Intel Core i5-8400 processor is maximized with the 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2666MHz RAM it ships with. At the very least, the speed differential will be minimal.
