MOST searches (including the Lenovo website) indicate that the installed 16GB is the maximum. However, some sources (including a real-world attempt documented in the Questions section by one owner) indicate that the non-soldered 8GB stick can be replaced by a 24GB module, for at maximum total of 40GB. So the SAFE answer is 16GB max, but the POSSIBLE max is 40GB. There is no guarantee of this higher number, but if you want to take the chance on what is otherwise an excellent item, at a great price, you have the option.
