• Hey Lew, you can turn off your IdeaPad by selecting the Windows start menu at the bottom of the display in the taskbar, selecting the power button symbol in the bottom right of the start menu, then selecting "Shut down". To put your device to sleep, you can follow the same steps as listed above, but selecting "Sleep" instead of shut down, or you can close your laptop lid to put the device to sleep.

• The default on laptops is to go to sleep when the lid is closed, then turn off or hibernate after a period of time. This can be altered to just turn off, or you can follow Lenovo's instructions. Or you can press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds. To alter what the lid does when closed, right click on the battery icon (far right of the Taskbar) and select Power Options. The new window that appears has multiple setting possibilities.
