• This is not a simple question. Leaving the unit plugged in will probably not damage or affect the battery life in the short term, but in may long term. The best option is those laptops with a feature which will stop battery charging, either for a chosen time, or at a certain range, such as when the battery is charged 90% or more. Batteries work best and last longest when you avoid the extremes of charge, such as under 15% or more than 90.

• Leaving it connected even after the battery is fully charged will damage and reduce the longevity of the battery.
