• Definitely do not get this if you want portability: it is extremely heavy.

• The stand detaches from the monitor but it would be a bit cumbersome because the stand is not two dimensional (flat). Look closely at the pictures from the website and you can see that. The base with the arm are fixed as best I can tell.
