• The Lenovo Smart Clock Essential does not need the Lenovo Smart Light Bulbs to function. With the Lenovo Link Pro APP and the Google Home APP installed on your Smart phone/tablet paired to the Smart Clock Essential, you will be able to use Voice Commands through the Google Assistant to control the Lenovo Smart Bulb with your Smart Clock Essential.

• The light bulbs aren't needed for operation. The clock works well as a Google Assistant on its own. As this clock has Google Assistant built in, you can control smart devices such as smart bulbs, outlets, etc., but all of these items are optional. I own two of these clocks in my home and a Nest Hub, but do not own a single smart bulb.
