The Yoga 710 Series only can use the capacitive type stylus. Yes, you would need to purchase the capacitive touch stylus separately.

There have recently been developed some few styluses that by bluetooth or other technology confer pressure sensitivity and high accuracy. If its a dealbreaker, find the stylus first.

The associate picked this out and instructed that this is the stylus pen to purchase. We were only able to use the Lenovo 710 briefly twice before the device malfunctioned. Took it to Best Buy, the sent it in and had to replace a motherboard that didn't work. ON A BRAND NEW device?? Just picked up the computer today and am trying to install the stylus and am reading here and other posts that it isn't compatible. Is this true? Now I cannot return it because it is passed the 15 days and the stylus pen had been opened. It was $59.99.
