Can the filters be washed or must they be replaced? null

The pre filter can be brushed off, Mine came with a nice soft brush. Depending on how much dust it has to pick up, they recommend that you change the filters every 6 to 8 months. After that long, the carbon filter probably doesn't filter out odors so well. You can find the filters online for 2 sets for $32 with free shipping. The unit won't be damaged if you extend the filter change interval.
