• Pretty sure you can find this all on the website, but my daughter has used the timer and has been cooking at the same time, so YES

• No, unfortunately you can't. I just tried and when you start the microwave, and try to hit the timer it does nothing. Also the same the other way around. With some microwaves you can, but not this one
