“What is the actual functional difference between the convection mode and the air fry mode? Is the air fry mode basically just a short cut for a high temp convection bake? Does the fan run at higher speed or is there a different fan?”

There is no difference in my experience. I own an air fryer and this. It doesn’t do nearly as good of a job as an air fryer. It takes double the time to do similar results. I was disappointed as I was hoping to get rid of my air fryer but it remains.
