The one I bought isn't any louder than the old one which I would not consider to be loud.

Here are some reasons why your LG LMV1764ST microwave might be making loud noises: 1. Normal Operation: Microwaves can make different sounds, like humming or clunking, during regular use. These noises are usually normal and not a cause for concern. 2. Installation and Maintenance: Improper installation, debris on the rotation axis or wheels, or an uneven surface can cause excess noise. Make sure your microwave is installed correctly and regularly maintained to reduce unwanted sounds. 3. Turntable Plate and Support: If the turntable plate isn't placed correctly or if the support is damaged, you may hear a thumping or rattling noise. Overloading the turntable can also lead to excessive noise. 4. Magnetron and Stirrer Motor: Problems with the magnetron or stirrer motor can cause increased noise. If the magnetron is near the end of its life or if the stirrer motor is damaged, abnormal sounds may be produced.
