No, there is not a timer on the cooktop light. There is an Energy Saver feature. The Energy Saving feature saves energy by turning off the display by pressing the Energy Saving button. The display will automatically turn off after 5 minutes of idleness if the clock has not been set. If the clock has been set, then the display will not automatically turn off. ^Daphane
