you have to be able to connect the sound bar to the tv and plug the power cable from the sound bar into an outlet. The sub woofer also needs to be plugged into an outlet, but picks up the signal from the sound bar so it's in sync with the sound bar.

I am using my tv direct to power mine, I have a 3.5mm output and I am going direct to the 3.5mm on the sound bar, You also can power it from the source (xbox/ps4/cable box) via an optical cable
