- A:Answer Hello there, Richard. Thank you for sharing your inquiry with us. We understand you're asking about the compatibility of your current Kenmore Elite trim kit with the LG Over-the-Range Smart Microwave (Model: MVEL2125F). Q: QuestionCan this microwave's hood be vented to the outside?
Asked by jcplerm.
- A:Answer Hi there. Thank you for sharing your inquiry with us. We understand your inquiry about venting options for your LG over-the-range microwave model MVEL2125F. According to the specifications, this model supports both external (ducted) and recirculating (non-ducted) venting configurations. The exhaust vent is located at the top, allowing you to connect ductwork that directs cooking exhaust to the outside (roof or wall). For external venting, you’ll need to install appropriate ductwork (e.g., 3¼" x 10" rectangular or minimum 6" diameter round) and ensure the total duct length and elbows comply (keep duct runs as short as possible, use a back-draft damper, seal joints, and follow clearance templates). If you prefer recirculating mode, charcoal filters are used, and no external duct is required, though capture efficiency is typically lower than with external venting. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-2-1-cu-ft-over-the-range-smart-microwave-with-sensor-cooking-and-extendavent-2-0-stainless-steel/6508557.p?skuId=6508557 If you need further guidance on planning or performing the vent installation—such as selecting duct size, routing, or template alignment—please send us a private message on Social Media @LGUSSupport and our team will be more than happy to explore possible solutions and ensure a smooth installation. Q: QuestionReplacing a dead LMHM2017ST/01. Is this the same size?
Asked by njdanielle.
- A:Answer Hi, Danipani. Thank you for reaching out to us! The LG Microwave (MVEL2125F) model has a 2.1 cu. ft. capacity, while the LMHM2017ST/01 model has a 2.0 cu. ft. capacity. Q: QuestionI have an open space above a built-in oven and that is where I want to put this microwave. Would this microwave work for the space? The measurements are all correct I am just wondering if I can set it in that space.
Asked by melliott.
This question was asked about the related product: LG - 2.1 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Smart Microwave with Sensor Cooking and ExtendaVent 2.0 - Black Stainless Steel
- A:Answer Hi. The LG 2.1 cu. Ft. Smart Over-the-Range Microwave with ExtendaVent®2.0 & EasyClean®, Model # MVEL2137D, is designed for installation under your upper kitchen cabinet. The minimum installation clearance height before the microwave is installed is 30 ", and the minimum width between your upper kitchen cabinets is 30". It must be mounted against a flat, vertical wall, so it is supported by the wall. The wall should be constructed of a minimum of 2" x 4" wood studding and 3/8" thick drywall or plaster/lath. The 2 lag screws supporting the oven must be attached to a vertical, 2" x 4" wall stud, and the upper kitchen cabinet and rear wall structures that it must be attached to must support 150 lb. plus the weight of any items you place inside the oven or upper cabinet. All air vents should be kept clear during cooking. If air vents are covered during oven operation the oven may overheat. To prevent damage to the oven, a sensitive safety device detects overheating and automatically turns the oven off. The oven cannot be used until it has cooled sufficiently. Regrettably, we do not have enough information about the open space above your built-in oven, nor do we have instructions for installing this microwave oven other than those in the installation guide, so we cannot advise you if you can install it there...^Ivan.

Q: QuestionDoes microwave magnetron have active or passive cooling to extend part life? Concern: Using microwave for extended time 12-15m, say for artichokes or other foods that require continuous cook times at 100% power.
Asked by TooNerdy.
- A:Answer Hello there! Thank you for your inquiry regarding the cooling features of the microwave magnetron in the LG MVEL2125F. We understand that you’re concerned about using the microwave for extended cooking times, such as for artichokes or other foods that require continuous cooking at 100% power. The magnetron in this microwave is designed with passive cooling features to help extend its lifespan during regular use. While it doesn't have active cooling mechanisms, the design allows for efficient heat dissipation, ensuring it operates effectively even during longer cooking sessions. This helps maintain performance while minimizing the risk of overheating during extended use. For best practices, it’s always advisable to monitor the microwave during prolonged cooking times, as well as to utilize the sensor cook feature, which determines when your food is ready based on humidity-sensing technology. This feature can help optimize cooking times and prevent overcooking. https://www.lg.com/us/cooking-appliances/lg-mvel2125f-over-the-range-microwave#pdp_specs If you have any further questions or would like more information about this microwave or any other LG products, please feel free to send us a private message on Social Media @LGUSSupport. Q: QuestionThe depth of my cabinet is 15 1/8 wall to face. Will the door open with this depth. Is there a clearance required on LH side for door opening or amount the MW must protrude from the face of the cabinet for the door to open
Asked by Joeh.
- A:Answer Hello Joeh. Thank you for your inquiry about the LG Over-the-Range Smart Microwave model MVEL2137F. The door on this microwave typically requires some clearance on the left-hand side for proper opening. While the exact clearance needed can vary slightly, ensuring at least a few inches of space to the left of the microwave allows the door to open fully without obstruction. Regarding the depth of your cabinet, which is 15 1/8 inches from the wall to the face, this should provide sufficient clearance for the door to open comfortably. If you have further questions about installation or need specific measurements, please refer to the installation guide or contact our support team via @LGUSSupport on our social media platform. Q: QuestionIs the ExtendaVent option to spread heat coming from the stovetop below or for spreading heat from within the microwave? We will not be using this over a stove.
Asked by PaulB.
- A:Answer Hi there. Thank you for your inquiry about the LG MVEL2125F microwave. We understand you’re curious about the ExtendaVent feature and how it functions. The ExtendaVent is designed to capture and vent heat, smoke, and odors from the stovetop below the microwave, not for spreading heat from within the microwave itself. Since you won’t be using it over a stove, this feature won’t be necessary for your specific setup. The microwave will still function normally without utilizing the ExtendaVent.
