“why does the LG LMHM2237ST have controls on the door and not on the side panel to the right?”

• No one knows but the designer. Having them at eye level they are easier to to use. It is not a problem. I bought it for the extendavent that really works and for the largest interior. This microwave really cooks fast and is very quiet when on. It is a very good buy.
