A:AnswerWhich cycle are you referring to? According to some studies that have been done on this topic, the average dishwasher uses 6 gallons of water per cycle; the average Energy Star-rated dishwasher uses 4 gallons per cycle. Energy Star assumes each load in a "standard" dishwasher (usually 24 inches in size) has "a capacity greater than or equal to eight place settings and six serving pieces. The LG Semi-Integrated Dishwasher with Flexible EasyRack™ System, Model # LDS5040WW has 5 cycles ( Power Scrub, Normal, Delicate, Quick and Upper Only) that have water usage that ranges from 5 gallons (19L) to 7.7 gallons (29L). The actual water consumption may vary depending on soil level and water hardness. Pre-Rinsing or scraping food off dishes helps to turn your load into a “lightly soiled” one so you can complete the wash quicker. Cycle times on this machine run from 84 minutes to 166 minutes. The U.S.-based Energy Star program issued new standards that came into effect on Jan. 20, 2012, requiring dishwashers to use less water and energy so to achieve this, dishwashers were redesigned to clean just as well despite using less water and electricity. Manufacturers accomplished this, in part, by having their machines run longer. With less water to spray, the machines spray longer, using higher-efficiency motors and pumps. It is counter-intuitive because most people relate longer run times to higher energy and water usage, but in reality, cleaning performance can be increased and energy usage can be reduced, with longer run times. Even though the dishwasher runs twice as long, it uses less water and power...^IFV

A:AnswerMy husband is handy so he took out the old dishwasher, he drilled bigger entry holes for the cord, water and drain supply, and installed the new dishwasher, with a new cord (the old one had frayed on a roughcut hole), and used new water supply line of steel woven cover. Total added supplies were $40 incl tax. Note to self: make sure the water connection at the right angle jpin to the machine is more than handtight-the first time it leaked. We used printed instructions and youtube videos.
