• To access Netflix, the internet, etc you must have WiFi available. Yes, you can cruise the Internet, YouTube (it's free) Netflix (subscription required, but cheap) or any number of other subscription services. If you don't have cable, then you will need an outdoor antenna to hook up to if you want to watch the free over the air TV.

• A Smart TV usually has pre-loaded apps (e.g. Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Prime, etc) that you can access providing you have a wired or wireless internet connection.
