“How does an old school DVD player make a tv work but not an “old school “ converter box?”

• You do not need a converter box. The TV has built in digital and analog turners (ATSC and NTSC). ^Daphane

• You don't need an old school converter box for this. Just the antenna. It has a built in channel tuner which eliminates the middle man (converter box).
