“This may be a dumb question, but is this battery operated? I.e. when it's perched on the countertop does it also have to be plugged in and attached to cable? I'm looking for something that does NOT clutter up the countertop with wires”

• No, it is not battery operated. I have it connected by cable to an antenna in my attic, but it can also use wifi to connect to other devices.
