Yes, to a HDMI port. The reason we got this tv is because it was compatible with cable. It's NOT a smart tv. I'm very happy with it.

Only if your cable company still connects the coaxial cable directly to the tv. The vast majority of cable companies in America require using cable boxes which would mean HDMI output to the tv. And your DVD player will only connect if it is an HD upscaling DVD player with HDMI output. You can buy an HDMI splitter if you have more than one HDMI device to connect. But to fully answer the question, I'd need the specifics on your cable company and DVD players connections.
