The LG 720p LED TV – 24” Class (23.6” Diag), Model # 24LF454B only has an HDMI port on it, it does not have a USB port, at least not one that functions like the regular USB ports do. That USB Port labeled as 'Service Only' is a USB to Serial Converter/RS-232C port that can be used for external device control (such as a computer or A/V control system). ^CP

Any tv that has a USB port now a days has it for multiple reasons. It could receive service there, such as software updates. You can also attach a flash drive with music or photo files. Sometimes, there may be streaming devices that use this port as well. Sometimes, some antennas can use this to amplify their signal as well. In other words, it has many uses!
