Yes, the TV would need disconnected from the cable box and the DVD player would need connected via HDMI. ^CP
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Get an HDMI switcher. You can get one from Amazon or Ebay. You can get one for 3, 4 or 5 HDMI inputs. Then plug in your HDMI devices in and plug one end of HDMI to output of splitter and the other end to HDMI input of TV.

When Time Warner came yesterday to set up my TV the technician noticed I also had a DVD player and told me I would have to unplug the cable box from that input and plug in my DVD player. BUT since I am 72 years old and never ever touch the cable wires in the back of the TV and really just rarely used my DVD player, it really was not an issue for me
