“Is there a gap between back of drawer and the back of the actual pedestal (similiar to how cabinets are made with 3" gaps from drawers to cab back)? If so, how big is the gap? What material is pedestal made of? Can it be cut to fit over a pipe at back?”

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The interior of the drawer is only about 22" deep, while the whole unit is 27" deep. Allowing 1 1/2--2" for the plastic liner and the steel, it would make sense to think that there is a 3" or slightly better gap at the back. The drawer doesn't pull out as a cabinet drawer would--there are no visible releases on the drawer slides, so I am guessing that you would have to disassemble it from the bottom. The underside looks like a piece of galvanized sheet metal held on with screws. The exterior of mine is black stainless steel; I'm not sure what the white pedestal is made from. Hope this helps.
