Hi there, when this model usually installed, you'll want to leave at least 30 inches of clearance between the cooking surface and anything above it, like cabinets or shelves. This gives you enough space for ventilation and to keep flammable stuff away from the heat. You'll also need a minimum of 2.5 inches between the edge of the countertop cutout and the edge of the cooktop itself. This extra space is important for the actual installation and to avoid any interference with the counter.-Renzo
