I bought one two weeks ago, and thought it was a wonderful machine for the price. Sound was fine even without bothering to install my sound bar. Picture seemed comparable to the LG 55" smart set I purchased a month or so earlier. But it did have the same odor problem. Upon advice of my IT department, I have returned it for exchange. I hope the next one doesn't have the same difficulty.
