• Yes, it does have digital audio output. There are two sets of connectors on the back of the TV. One, what I believe you saw in the photo, is horizontal and comes straight out the back - HDMI in, Component in, AV in. The second is vertical to the right of the first, and points out towards the side - HDMI in, USB in, cable in, optical digital audio out.

• Thank you dgl585. The photo of the side inputs may be an old or pre-production photo. It shows a blank indication of where the optical output would be- but no actual optical output. Nor is there a label in that location as there are for all the other inputs. See for yourself! But, I'll take your word for it and hope the tv I buy does actually have the output. Thanks again.
