This one seems to actually full the tub by running the water through the detergent tray. The tray is located on the inside/top/back of the opening and water comes out there. This is an HE washer so you'll want HE detergent, which I've only seen in liquid form. Our detergent tray is only ever wet (no wash liquid left) after a load.

Where the detergent is, VERY little water remains, if that doesn't bother you. I was hesitant on getting this model, but chose it for it's size and functionality. I have a small space, as of now, I DON'T regret this model. It works great, clothes are clean and much more space to wash.
