“My machine is quiet throughout the wash cycle but when it drains/spins its loud when its pumping the water out. is it because I don't have a heavy load in the washer? you can feel the drain hose pumping but not sure why it is loud”

If the load is not balanced, the washer will vibrate and make noise. If you can pause the cycle and rearrange/rebalance the items in the tub, it might solve the problem.
