I measure about 10 inches from the bottom of the door to the floor. About 14 inches from the bottom of the opening to the floor.

It is a long reach to the back of the drum which is at an angle. A tool to grab small things left after removing large things might be helpful.

A pedestal would be difficult. LG doesn't make one for this unit, so if you did find or make one it would be not engineered to be compatible like pedestals made by washer/dryer manufacturers. May have a vibration issue. And, it would make it quite tall.

You could place this unit on a small pedestal. It would be a little better.
