“If my current W/D set up has a small cabinet built in between how will this work with the set up for this machine? Will place this on the side with the water & then extend vent & plug for the dryer. Is that what others are doing?”

Not sure if this what you are asking but mine was put in front of water connections. I placed a new cabinet next to it and side vented mine through the cabinet to the outside vent in the wall. I have easy access to the water supply through the inside of the cabinet and also easy vent cleaning trough the cupboard without pulling out the washer/dryer
