    • Answer Each cycle on the ENERGY STAR® Most Efficient/ENERGY STAR® Certified LG 4.5 cu. Ft. Ultra Large Capacity Front Load Washer - Black Steel, Model # WM4000HBA, has default settings that are selected automatically. You cam also customize these settings using the cycle modifier buttons. You can repeatedly press the button for the desired modifier until the indicator light for the desired setting is lit. The LED next to the setting lights up when the setting is selected. To protect your garments, not every wash temperature, spin speed, soil level, or option is available with every cycle. A chime will sound twice and the LED will not light if the desired setting is not allowed for the selected cycle. You can press the Temp. button repeatedly to select the wash and rinse temperature combination for the selected cycle. All rinses for this washer use unheated cold water. Tap Cold, Cold, Warm, Hot or Extra Hot wash temperature settings are available for most wash cycles. You can also press the Cold Wash button to save energy by using cooler water. It will increase the wash and rinse times to maintain wash performance and this option is available for the Normal, Heavy Duty, Bedding, Delicates, Perm. This model does not feature a dedicated “Soak” cycle; however, you can achieve a soak function by using the Pre-Wash option: Troubleshooting Step Select Pre-Wash – On the control panel, turn the Cycle Selector to your desired wash (e.g., Normal), then press the Pre-Wash button. “Pre-Wash” will appear on the display. Adjust Soak Time – Press the Time or Soak Level buttons (depending on your control layout) to increase the pre-wash duration up to 30 minutes, allowing your garments to soak before the main wash. Start the Cycle – Press Start/Pause. The washer will fill and agitate gently during the pre-wash phase, giving clothes time to soak. If you’d prefer a manual soak, you can also: Pause Mid-Cycle – After the unit fills, press Start/Pause to stop agitation and let the load sit.
