This washer does NOT open the door automatically. The door does lock during all cycles and unlocks at the end of cycle. This washer does have a cleaning cycle to kill bacteria, but we've not used it yet. Turbo cycle appears to shuffle (spin and counter spin) the cloths more during the wash cycle. I couldn't tell if cloths come out cleaner. They seem very clean to me. This washer replaced our 10 year old whirlpool front loader. I much prefer this washer and am very pleased with it. We've owned this washer for about a month. My wife did the research (She's a retired English professor and knows all lot about reteaching) and picked this one. She is very pleased with it as well.
