“How do I connect my stereo speakers to my tv so the sound can come through both? It says the LG - LK5700 has a digital optical port so I hooked up the audio output cables but it didn't work. The sound only comes through the tv speakers. What am I missing?”

You need to to connect to your speakers to the optical port.
